These biodegradebale bags which are available in trash, kitchen, and cat litter box sizes, degrade in about 90 days instead of hundreds of years .It is such a simple living fix to make- just stoke up so you always have some at hand. I am thinking of making up some “green baskets’ for holiday gifts and as mundane as they sound, biodegradable trash bags will be in the basket!

Hybrid cars, changing out incandescent light bulbs for a few CFLs, or having reusable grocery bags, are some of the ways green-minded individuals look to help the planet. These are great things, to be sure. But I say look deeper; so deep that you find new ways to help in your old, no longer usable items. That’s right, I mean your trash. Well, perhaps not the trash, but what it’s stored in: the trash bag.

In the past, trash bags were sturdy and strong. So sturdy they can last up to one thousand years in a landfill. Recently I found a great new way to rid yourself of your trash and your guilty conscience over using plastic trash bags. They’re called BioBags, and are strong and sturdy, yet biodegradable trash bags for household trash, pet litter, and lawn debris.

I think the only reason these biodegradeable trash bags aren’t more widely used is because most people just aren’t aware they exist. Let’s change that….
